the "painting a day" challenge

Can I really paint a picture every day?  Finished?  Complete? That I would actually share?  It's a little bit overwhelming.

It's all about the practice.  Now, I know you have better things to do with your time, but, occasionally I will stalk other artist on Instagram.  What I really like to see is where they started and how they got to where they are now.  I find this fascinating.  And more often than not, they took up the painting a day challenge and they saw their engagement boom.  My theory is that when you practice daily you can't help but get better.  They all started out with plenty of talent and beautiful paintings.  And somewhere along the daily painting challenge their techniques, use of color, and details just got better and better.  I always tell my students - it's all about the practice!

I've gotten through my first week and so far so good.  It is a lot of work to get a painting ready every single day but it is also a very fun challenge.

This first week, my paintings have been focused on the beautiful blue ridge mountains of Virginia.  Some mountain landscape painting scenes are far away vistas and some are views while actually hiking the trails around Roanoke and Salem, Virginia.  I hope you will follow along with me.  I hope you enjoy the paintings and let me know if there is something you'd like to see me paint.  You can see the paintings I've posted here.

And I thank you for all your support!
