virginia blue ridge mountains
Sally J Goodrich uses acrylic and gouache paint to create colorful, sometimes, serene, sometimes lively landscapes and florals.
Inspired by the beautiful blue ridge mountains of the Roanoke Valley and many summers spent in the Black Mountains of Asheville, NC, her landscapes are lush, vibrant and friendly.
These paintings require her to use quick brushstrokes to capture the feeling of the moment.
Of course she takes inspiration from Monet - who doesn’t?
The color is more vibrant, the details are more detailed and the strokes more loose. Other times her landscapes are inspired by photos taken near her home and travels around the area.
She loves to represent the beauty and every changing colors of even the most plain outstretched field.
Her florals consist of familiar flowers usually in ginger jars, painted with blue chinoiserie figures. She takes ample liberties with color and tries to create her best impressionist/fauve or fauve/impressionist style of work.to purchase the frame
